Greys GS 13 foot 8 weight Spey Rod.

All over the globe, there are people who love to fish and in the universal language of the sport, one name reigns supreme – that of Hardy.

For well over a century, Hardy has been renowned as the manufacturer of the finest game fishing tackle in the world – the name is synonymous with quality and excellence. Such reputations are not acquired easily, but it has never faltered throughout the Company’s long history.

To ensure that some of the fishing tackle memorabilia in the Company’s possession was preserved for posterity, Hardy then decided to build a museum at its Alnwick headquarters. This was opened by HRH The Princess Margaret in July, 1987, and is unique. Many of the exhibits have been lent by the Company’s many devotees round the world as well as by the Hardy family and by employees. The museum is half of an imposing complex which also houses the Hardy Compleat Angler Store in which all current Hardy products are on permanent display and available to retail customers.

In September, 1988, Hardy acquired their manufacturer of quilted and waxed garments as part of Hardy’s growing clothing division. Changes in demand led to that division being closed in the late 1990’s and today’s extensive ranges of high-performance clothing are sourced from high quality manufacturers worldwide.

The third division of Hardy is the composite tubing business previously known as Fibatube but now called Hardy Advanced Composites. At the leading edge of composite tube technology, the division has established an enviable reputation for innovation, design, quality, service and manufacturing expertise over 25 years. Many of the technical attributes required to produce the finest fishing rods have been utilised to supply tubular components for Formula 1 racing cars, artificial limbs, the A320 Airbus and a wide range of high-tech defence products.

Greys Fishing

In 1999 Hardy acquired the rod manufacturer Greys which had been founded in 1968 by Mr Grey when he left Hardy’s employment. Hardy has developed the Greys brand such that it now includes the best value for money ranges of salmon and trout tackle available and top quality carp tackle.

In 2004 the Company’s name was changed from House of Hardy Ltd to Hardy & Greys Ltd better to reflect the diverse range of the Company’s products.

Zephyr EZ Rotary Vise

Zephyr Fly Tying Vises

In the under $100 category this vide must be considered for both best value and overall features.

While it’s hard to be a $50 – $100 dollar vise that does everything you ask, as a tyre, we want a little more in the area of life expectancy and “quality feel” out of a vise.

These vises are strictly threshold tools that would give the user a taste of what it’s like to tie flies.

The serious vises cost a tad more, but the value there is evident.

That’s why the Zephyr EZ Rotary vise is a winner for best value.

For such an inexpensive vise it’s got quite a good feature set – You get a decent c-clamp along with the full rotary functionality.

ABOUT Greys:

There’s no doubt about it. Great anglers use great tackle. And we have the best of both world’s here at Greys.

Our experts, like John Bailey, Rebecca Thorpe, John Horsey, and Chris Ogborne to name but a few, are demanding anglers, and any of the Greys equipment they use is thoroughly tested before it gets into this catalogue.

We love glowing reviews and winning awards (and we do get quite a few) but it’s the fact that Greys is the gear of choice for so many top flight anglers that pleases us most. These men and women cannot afford their gear to let them down and that’s why we are proud they choose Greys. Great design. Great materials. Great build quality. Great prices. Lifetime guarantees. Their backing is as good an endorsement as you can get in game fishing.

How do we do it? It’s all down to common sense, about sourcing the best materials and employing the best product development managers like Howard Croston and Alastair Dandie. We are surrounded by the leading
technicians in the sport. And, of course, they use the most modern technology in the world. We maintain our base in Alnwick but also have superb manufacturing partners around the world. We have salesmen who are mad about fishing and the product. And all our retailers love Greys because they can trust our products, and satisfied customers return to buy more.

That’s Greys, and that’s what Greys is all about.

A true fisherman’s brand.

About Okuma Fishing Tackle

For us at Okuma Fishing Tackle, fishing is a life-long adventure. Collectively, none of us fish as often, catch as many, or are as consistently successful as we would like, and thankfully so. Fishing is not a destination; it’s an endless pursuit that begins long before we ever get to the water. The anticipation of the next opportunity is as valuable as the time spent on the water.

At Okuma, we craft the tools for the journey. From entry-level through expert, every rod and reel is constructed not only to execute, but also to excite, energize and exhilarate. From feeling the tap, tap, tap of a drift rig searching its way along the bottom of a steelhead stream, to turning a lifeless lead jig into a fleeing bait-fish in the salt, every cast, crank, bobber down and hookup are the rich details of the journey.

Our singular goal is to advance the experience; to extract more from every day on the water. We pursue that goal through the development of forward-thinking materials like C-40X long carbon fiber framing in the all-new Helios and RTX spinning reels. We inspire action with a new line of Cruz popping rods. And we make these experiences accessible to everyone with right and left hand designs like new Cold Water premium line counter reels.

As we look across the country, the road ahead is filled with tremendous opportunities and some truly exceptional fisheries. We look forward to sharing them with you.

Mastering The Dead Drift Featuring Aaron Jasper DVD

Mastering The Dead Drift Featuring Aaron Jasper DVD

The majority of fly fishermen begin nymph fishing using traditional tight-line methods with split shot and no indicator and most early attempts at nymphing are done with rigs of similar modified design. These styles of nymphing are effective on smaller streams. However, many anglers find out when venturing into larger rivers with little gradient, where presenting flies at a distance is necessary to catch trout, that no single nymphing technique fits every situation. The answer to your problem… “MASTERING THE DEAD DRIFT -INDICATOR NYMPHING SIMPLIFIED AND PERFECTED”
