Even with all of these industry break-throughs, today is a special day. We’re excited to introduce our newest technology and a significant step forward in fly line manufacturing – SlickCast. Fly lines built with SlickCast have the lowest amount of friction ever measured on a fly line.
 
It’s not just about the slickness, though. SlickCast’s proprietary formulation produces the toughest and most durable fly line coating in the world and is off the charts when tested for abrasion and cracking resistance. You can trust your SlickCast line to outlast every other fly line you’ve ever fished.
 
Not to be overshadowed, but probably very overshadowed, we’re also introducing our next generation low-stretch core – ConnectCore Plus. ConnectCore Plus creates a smoother line surface and a drastically improved bond between coating and core, and result in the highest-performing, longest-lasting freshwater lines in the world. ConnectCore Plus is found only in our new Elite series of fly lines.
 
RIO’s new Elite fly lines, featuring SlickCast and ConnectCore Plus, and the improved Premier fly lines featuring SlickCast will be introduced in Gold, Grand, Perception, and Technical Trout tapers on June 24^th, 2020.

SlickCast is the latest coating technology developed by RIO’s R&D team, resulting in the most sophisticated, radically advanced fly line coating ever made.

A fly line made with SlickCast is ultra-slick and incredibly tough, and this video explains and demonstrates the lab tests we conduct to determine how good this new coating is.

1) SlickCast produces a fly line with the slickest coatings ever measured in a fly line. This means longer casts, more efficient casting strokes, and makes it a lot easier to shoot and feed line when mending and fishing.

2) In addition, SlickCast coatings are incredibly tough, durable and long-lasting. A fly line made with SlickCast is far more resistant to cracking than regular fly lines and beyond comparison when measuring how long it takes for the coating to start being abraded off the line. Our tests show that lines with a SlickCast coating last 140% longer in an abrasion test than everything else we tested. That is a very impressive improvement and shows that SlickCast creates one tough fly line!
