Simms Tributary Rubber Sole Wading Boot:
Description of The Simms Tributary Rubber Sole Wading Boot:
Waist deep in the river with a pushy current testing your balance requires confident footing. Our Tributary wading boot provides the trusted support and traction to help you negotiate slick, uneven river bottoms, while stud-compatible rubber outsoles let you customize your grip patterns to suite your destination.
Feature of The Simms Tributary Rubber Sole Wading Boot:
- Textile and synthetic lace-up upper;
- Neoprene lining for easy on-off;
- Durable rubber toe cap;
- Stud-compatible traction rubber outsole.
Footwear Care:
If using in saltwater always clean and rinse to prevent corrosion.
Use a brush to remove dust and dirt. Choose an old vegetable brush or toothbrush. For maximum thoroughness, remove laces prior to cleaning. Use specialized boot cleaner, saddle soap or maybe a mild dishwashing soap with luke-warm water.
Do not use bar soap or detergents.
Do not place wet boots close to a heat source (fireplace, campfire, wood stove, radiator, heater, sunny windowsill) as this can weaken adhesives and cause materials to become brittle or shrink.
Dry using natural methods (air dry) and try to keep them out of the sun for long periods of time. Boots dry faster when positioned upside-down. If desired, stuff a sheet or two of newspaper into each boot to absorb moisture. Change the paper each hour.
If you see any mold on your boots, brush in a mixture of 80% water and 20% vinegar.
Over time the use of leather conditioners may provide increased water repellency and can prevent cracking and drying of the leather.
Store footwear in a place where temperatures are stable and normal. Do not store footwear in attics, garages, car trunks or any unventilated spaces.
Never put footwear in washing machine.

This week we discovered a quality issue with our recently introduced Tributary boot, affecting both the rubber and felt versions. A critical seam in the upper of the boot is prone to failure, often after only minimal use. While these Tributary boots don’t present a safety risk, they do not meet your or our high quality standards for Simms products. As a result we are asking you to discontinue sales of these boots and return your Tributary boots to Simms. Once we receive your Tributary inventory, a credit will be applied against your invoices that include Tributary boots. We would encourage you to reach out to your customers and ask them to return used or unused product to your store for a refund in hopes that you can sell them a different Simms wading boot.
The quality issue arose from a change to the construction of the upper that was made by our manufacturing partner without Simms’ approval. Our samples and testing prototypes, which were manufactured to Simms’ specifications, held up well under our rigorous testing standards. Unfortunately the unauthorized change at the factory resulted in a seam strength deficiency and point of failure that is a known risk in a wading boot. That said, we should have caught this at our factory and not delivered product that didn’t meet our standards. Going forward we will implement process changes in how we conduct quality control audits to identify quality risks in our wading boots. Because this quality issue is not visible on the outside or inside of the finished boot, this additional quality evaluation requires cutting initial production samples open to evaluate internal construction details. It’s a critical and justified enhancement to our already thorough quality systems, as we seek to ensure that a similar issue never impacts our retailers or consumers again.
We are working with our manufacturing partner to get these boots constructed to our original specification. Your Simms Representative will notify you as soon as we are back in stock in Tributary boots. Note this issue only impacts the Tributary boot and no does not impact other Simms wading boot styles or the Tributary wader. All other Simms styles can be sold with confidence.
