What Is a “Swap”?
Turn Old Fishing Equipment into new money or credit toward new equipment!
A “Swap” is a sidewalk sale that we have at our location. It is the only time that we will carry used fishing equipment, and it is a great opportunity for anyone to buy or sell their used gear at a single forum that will potentially have a full house of viewers. THIS WILL INCLUDE ALL SPINNING, FLOAT, BAITCAST, DOWNRIGGING AND FLY GEAR. Anyone can bring in his or her old fishing equipment to be displayed to the public. This is an excellent way to update your gear, or to get some equipment at a great price – especially if you are just getting into the sport. Aside from the used equipment, we will also have sale prices on new in-store inventory.
Buying Information:
The swap opens at 9:00am SHARP Saturday and closes at 2:00Pm! Prices on the consigned items are fixed by the owner. Therefore bids are NOT accepted as HLS/TFC pro-staff members are not necessarily the owners of the equipment. The equipment is only at HLS/TFC for the designated swap day. All sales are final on swap or UBNA products. There are no warranties on swap or UBNA products. Potential buyers cannot preview the swap items before 8am. CASH ONLY PLEASE !! ( DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD TRANSACTIONS ADD 5% )
Selling Information:
Registration for actual drop-off is open starting the Friday prior from 10:00am to 8:00pm until Friday preceding the event at 8pm. Items will ONLY be received between these dates. The selling price is fixed for the day of the event. HLS/TFC is not responsible for the owner’s equipment after the swap closes.
TFC prefers cash sales for swap items – Credit card and debit card transactions will be permitted with a 5% surcharge.
What will I find at the Swap?
The contents of the Swap depend entirely on what is brought in by our customers. We do not know in advance what products we will have, although there should be a good variety of styles and prices. With your co-operation via the attached registration form, we will compile a synopsis of the potential gear and post it on our website in the days prior. The best selection is available Saturday morning, and obviously, the best of deals will go rapidly. Please do not call ahead for product information.
How do I find out if my item sold?
All unsold items MUST be picked up at 3pm on the date of the event. You will be paid or credited for your sales at that time.
What happens if my item gets sold?
If your item is sold, your account will be credited for the sale amount. This account will be created as per the swap sheet provided at registration. If the owner of the equipment sells their product then the owner has the choice of either taking a 100% store credit via a gift card, or 75% in cash immediately. The store credit/gift card does not have an expiration date. Store credits and cash will be issued at the end of the day.
What happens if my item doesn’t sell?
HLS/TFC does not charge a registration fee. If the fishing equipment does not sell, the owner must pick their items before the swap closes. Storage fees will be charged unless prior arrangements have been negotiated. HLS/TFC is NOT responsible for lost, damaged or stolen items subsequent to the pick-up time. Unsold equipment may be taken out before 3:00pm Saturday with proper signing authority.
How much is my item worth?
The price of the sale item is entirely in the seller’s hands. All we can do is give a rough idea of what the item might sell for based on the quality of the item, and what other similar items are priced. If you wish to increase the chances of selling your item, use the lowest price that you are willing to take as there will be no negotiating.
*** Please note that for the UBNA section, it is the sole responsibility of the seller to keep track of whether their items have sold – It is NOT the responsibility of HLS / TFC to contact the seller to make the necessary arrangements for immediate payment or gift card.
