Why you should choose our fly fishing schools ?

What factors sets our instruction apart from the rest ?
  • They feature private or small group instruction.
  • You will not be placed in a twenty person situation and try to learn hands on skills from one instructor.
  • Our goal is to have you leave our school with a positive outlook on fly-fishing and the skills you need to fish on your own – YOU are our future!
  • Roll Casting on Grass Resized

    Husband, wife and Brother-in-law…

  • We have over two decades of teaching experience.
  • Our clients have come to recognize that the same level of expertise and commitment that goes into our  fly fishing and casting schools goes into our guided fly fishing trips.
  • One of the appeals to river fishing is it’s constant change – sometimes on a daily basis, sometimes hourly basis.
  • We will concentrate on aspects such as water temperature, flow rate, varying bug hatches, as well as, changing weather conditions.
With this in mind, we will help you build a strategy to become a successful river angler.

Our Certified Casting Instructor will observe your techniques and listen to your challenges while evaluating your abilities on stream and tailor the instruction to your needs. Our goal is to increase your odds of catching that wise fish on “The First Cast”.

With the basics of fly fishing mastered, it’s time to up our game. This four hour course will take you through how to cast to a spot and hit it reliably, how to reach that fish that is way out there, and how to entice the fish with your fly. When the day is done, you will be able to fish more effectively.

Learn the simple techniques to ensure that the fly goes where you intend it to go. We will spend time working with these techniques on dry land targets, then move to the water where we will practice casting to a spot on the water as if fishing to a rising trout.

While most trout fishing is a relatively short ranged affair there are times, for example when fishing streamers, that we need to cast for distance. We will learn how to false cast and shoot line, how to manage excess line and how to know how much line we should be trying to manage in the cast. We will also learn the appropriate casting stroke for instance casting.

Casting well is only half the battle, however, for the fly has to look like something the trout wants to eat. That is the art of presentation. We will learn techniques like how to mend line, how to deliberately introduce slack to avoid drag, how to position ourselves for the cast, and how to ensure that we can actually hook the fish once it takes our fly..

When we’re done with the day, not only will you be able to get the fly to the fish, but you’ll be able to make that fly look good to eat!

We supply all the equipment including, the fly rods and reels, and waders for the day if necessary!

Our Casting Instructor will observe your techniques and listen to your challenges while evaluating your abilities on stream and tailor the instruction to your needs. Our goal is to increase your odds of catching that wise fish on “The First Cast”.

This four hour course takes us into the world of advanced casting techniques that will enable us to fish a broader range of circumstances and fish species. By the end of the day you will have gained the casting skills necessary to become an accomplished angler.

For distance casting we will learn the techniques of the single haul, the double haul and the water load.

For casting in challenging circumstances we will learn how to make tuck, puddle, “S” and steeple casts.

For casting in restricted space, we will introduce you to the basics of the Spey cast.

We also have the option to tailor this course to areas that are of the most concern to you. As an example, if you wish to spend the entire four hours on perfecting your double haul, no problem, we can do that.

This course is an excellent confidence builder for casting in challenging circumstances and by the end of it you will be able to present your fly to fish that you previously had to leave untouched.

We supply all the equipment including, the fly rods and reels, and waders for the day if necessary!

Peter-Charles-Spey-Casting-Refresher-Spey-Tune-up-Lesson

This four hour course is an Introduction to Spey Casting that covers all the basics that you’ll need to know to make a Spey cast.

By the end of the day, you will be able to make two different casts, suitable for fishing in varying winds on either bank of the river.

Spey casting is usually associated with those who fish for steelhead and salmon with a long, two-handed (Spey) rod.

These days Spey casting is open to anyone who fishes with a fly rod.

If you have a fly rod and line, you can make a Spey cast.

Not only will we cover the casts, but we’ll also delve into lines and how to pick the right line for your rod.

Spey casting is tremendously useful for casting in tight confines, plus it’s fun to do.

If you can make a roll cast with a fly rod, you can learn to Spey cast and move your fly fishing up to the next level.

We supply all the equipment including, the fly rods and reels, and waders for the day if necessary!
