How to Effectively Spey Cast and Fish the New Short Skagit Heads:
The new, very short Skagit heads like the Airflo Scout and the OPST Commando Heads have taken the Spey world by storm. These heads are being used on everything from light trout single hand rods, switch rods, and on to full length Spey rods. As many have found out though, casting these super short heads is not the same as casting a longer line. Anglers are frequently struggling with blowing anchors, poor distance, poor turnover, plus trying to figure out which sinktips to put on these heads.
The participants in this course will absolutely love the casting style that I’ll be teaching, for not only is it effective for these very short heads, but it’s also quite simple. It’s about as minimalist a Spey casting method as it can get. So if you have ever struggled with Spey casting consistency, this simple casting technique is the answer. Here’s the best thing though — it isn’t just for these short heads, for we can apply it to other types of shooting heads as well.
